Bakken Formations

The Bakken Formations is a new piece of theater set against the backdrop of the North Dakota fracking boom and impending bust. Created in collaboration with composer Fritz Myers and director Jade King Carroll, Bakken follows a series of interlocking stories surrounding a dark night in Williston, ND. The show is a snapshot of people striving for stasis amidst an explosion of wealth and opportunity as well as a wave of crime, meth amphetamine, and a thriving sex trade. The play creates a soundtrack for the lives of a rig hand, a couple living in their car, a female truck driver, a sex worker, a sheriff, and a young convenience store clerk. It’s a story of loneliness, desire, ambition, restless, and wanting more from the lives we think we’re leading.
